Description

Gates M-5576 tube preamp from the 1950s in working condition. This is one of two that I am selling, please see my other listing if you are interested in a closely, but not exactly, matched pair. It comes with vintage tubes, but does not come with XLR pigtails or IEC plug. This was very sadly damaged during shipping, please see the photos of the crack in the circuit board on the back of the unit. It has been repaired to be operable again and sounds the same as it did before the damage occurred, but due to the repair I cannot list it as in good condition. To be clear, this unit is working and sounds fine, as of right now, and has been re-capped and maintained in the past couple years. Unfortunately, due to the damage and vintage components I cannot say it will be reliably good to go for years to come. There really is nothing on this unit that can not be easily repaired or replaced if something were to act up in the future, but I just want everyone to be aware that it may need more attention and have listed it as parts with a price to match so there is no confusion. This unit has a slightly larger crack than the other and has always had a touch more white noise when getting into the high gain, so has been priced slightly lower. Tubes will be removed and separately packaged for shipping. If both units are purchased by the same buyer I will gladly try to combine for shipping savings.
